Since I Love Giveaways....

I have to admit, giveaways are my favorite things ever!!! I love giving as much as I love winning!

I know that I may have mentioned this amazing little company called The Thinking Tree and how they have changed the way we 'do school.'  Well, they have launched a brand new website, Fun-Schooling Books, where you can now see all of their books and journals organized in one place. I have to say, this site is beautiful! I am serious! I have to force myself to walk away from the computer.

Anyway, in honor of their new site, I am giving away one of their books!
I know that I have mentioned fun-schooling more than once. I am sure there are still many of you that have no clue what I am talking about. Some may understand, but you just don't know where to start. This Mom's Fun-Schooling Handbook is designed to help you walk through this transition!

There are several pages with ideas that the creator, Sarah, put together. These pages show you how to create baskets to help you kiddos get excited or curious about learning.

There are pages for you to ask your kids and write down what they are interested in learning about! Plan and organize all your thoughts and ideas to help get you started!

Throughout the book are quotes from moms who have made the flip to fun-schooling. I am in there too! We talk about how and why we chose to make the flip. I think it is neat to read all the different experiences and what fun-schooling means to each one. We are all so different and that translates in how we choose to fun-school!

Mixed in with all that goodness, is pages like the one below. These really help you, as a mom, focus on continuing to learn yourself!  I truly believe this is what sparked our 'mom school' movement. We all realized that we loved learning with our kids. Better still, our kids were inspired by us learning along side them!

I believe this book is the best starting point for any mom wanting to make the flip to fun-schooling!

It is available for purchase on Amazon. You can visit their new website, Fun-Schooling Books, to see it and many more journals to help you on this new journey!

I am giving away one of these journals to one of you!!!

The Pencil Grip, Inc. A TOS Review & Giveaway

Kwik Stix The Pencil Grip, Inc. Review

One of our favorite activities in the Crunchy House is Art. My kiddos love to draw and paint just like their daddy. I love watching them create new pieces of art to hang on our art wall. What I do not like, is cleaning up after the painting, the waiting for the paint to dry, and the general mess that comes with paint. With that said, you will understand my sheer excitement when I found Kwik Stix 12 pk by The Pencil Grip, Inc.

Kwik Stix The Pencil Grip, Inc. Review

These amazing little things are actual tempura paints in a solid form that dry in 90 seconds. Yes, you read that right, 90 seconds! I could not wait until our package arrived! I wanted to get pictures of it, but when it came, I was so excited, I tore it open without thinking! We received the Kwik Stix 12pk classic colors. There are also a metallic and neon colors available.

To say that the crunchy kiddos love these would be an understatement. These kept them busy for over an hour that night creating art. Even Daddy enjoyed them. He jumped right in and began to create along side the kids. My favorite part, there was no clean up involved! My kids just spent over an hour painting and I didn't have any clean up! SERIOUSLY!

These amazing sticks of paint are very similar to a glue stick. This made it super easy for the kids to grab and paint away. I will point out that there is not a point on these paints. They have a rounded top, which is perfect for my preschoolers, but may present frustration to a child wanting to be more detailed in their painting. I did caution the crunchy kiddos not to press too hard because they will mash. Brother Bear has a tendency to press very hard on markers and crayons usually. I did not want him to be upset when he realized that these would be ruined if he pushed too hard. All it took was me mentioning it to him and he was able to adjust his pressure to fit the paints!

With kids that love creating art daily, these were a sanity saver for this momma! No longer do I have to avoid art time because of the mess. No more collecting paint shirts, paints, brushed, water and towels when it's painting time. Now, I happily allow them to paint and create all on their own knowing that there won't be the mess afterwards.

I knew that I had to share these with everyone that I knew! I took mine to the preschool department at our church to show the director, she ordered some last week! She loved that they dried quickly. She explained how they avoided painting because they didn't want to send home wet art work with the kids after church. Now, she is free to allow the kids to paint in class!
We also have a 'Bridge Builders' program at our church for special needs kids. The lady that runs the program thought that these would be great for her kids as well!
Kwik Stix are WONDERFUL!

This is now our go-to art medium for the crunchy kiddos. They love creating art masterpieces to display on our art wall! Here are a few of their creations:

The Pencil Grip Inc. also sent a sample of one of their pencil grips. They sent me their newest grip, The Pinch Grip.  This grip is designed to help place the hand in the proper position to write correctly. You can download a free 'Chart of Correct and Incorrect Handwriting Positions' on their website at A great big "Thank you!" to the company for sending this freebie along!

I think the best part is that you all have a chance to win a your very own 12pk of Kwik Stix!!! The Pencil Grip, Inc. is giving one of my readers their very own set. All you have to do is comment on this post, don't forget to leave me your email address so that I can contact you if you win! A winner will be chosen on May 17, 2016 at 9pm.  Good luck!

What Could it Be?

What in the world could have these 2 very busy kiddos so content?
I can't wait to share with you!

Last year when Daddy T's granny went to be with Jesus, he was given the opportunity to transplant one of her hydrangea plants to our home.  She had 3 big beautiful hydrangea plants. They had been planted 36 years ago when she moved to her house in the country.
The problem we all faced was that it was in the dog days of summer. Hydrangea does best when transplanted during the winter. However, because of the house selling, that was not an option. So, we tested fate. I prayed like crazy over that gigantic hydrangea bush as my husband and his dad dug up their choice plants.

We drove it home, planted it, and watered it immediately. We knew the odds were not in our favor. All through winter we watched as the plant sat dormant, hoping beyond hope that it would take.

Earlier in the year, as the weather started warming, his dad called. He had lost almost half of his plant. They were still watching the rest.

Daddy T and I ran outside to check our's...not only was it all still alive, there were 20+ blooms starting to appear! We knew that it had made it! We were going to be able to enjoy Granny's flowers again for many years to come!

This past weekend we were out of town at the homeschool convention. When we got home, we went out to check on the chickens and garden. On my way back into the house, I peeked on our beloved plant. This is the picture that I saw:

Pink flowers!!! The memories of Granny B and the love for life that she shared with everyone who met her came flooding back! I know that she would love that we are getting to enjoy her favorite flowers.
They remind me of the hope we have that she is with Jesus and that one day we will be together again, singing loud His praises. Until then, her memory lives on in my backyard through these flowers, and in my home through my husband and children! Precious, precious memories....
